The Distretto Scienza e Tecnologia, together with the Municipality of Schio and Confindustria Vicenza, announces the first edition of L2L Summit, From Wool to the Moon, a new event dedicated to the dialogue between advanced manufacturing industry, scientific research and technological innovation.
The summit was born in a territory with a strong industrial vocation, historically linked to the textile tradition and today a protagonist of a transformation that leads it to engage with some of the most advanced technological challenges: from local manufacturing skills to space technologies. The Moon is therefore not the exclusive theme of the initiative, but the symbol of a level of excellence reached through supply chains, companies, research and human capital.
The title of the first edition, “From the particles of deep space to the space economy”, recalls the link between major international scientific research and the productive capacity of the territory. The initiative draws on a concrete case of local industrial excellence: the contribution of AlcaSpace, the space division of Alca Technology Srl of Schio, to the international AMS-02 project, the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer installed on the International Space Station, and to its upcoming “L0 Upgrade” expansion, currently under testing.
Friday 26 June 2026 will be organized in several moments: an outreach event dedicated to students and the most curious, opportunities for meetings between companies and stakeholders, visits and networking moments, up to the institutional and scientific summit in the afternoon at the Teatro Civico in Schio (Via Pietro Maraschin 19).
The program will involve representatives from the world of research, industry, institutions and science communication, with contributions linked to INFN, CERN, MIT, NASA, RIR-AIR and the local production system.
The goal of this first edition of L2L Summit is to contribute to positioning Veneto and the Alto Vicentino as an emerging ecosystem in the field of the space economy, advanced manufacturing and high-tech innovation, fostering new connections between companies, research, institutions, young talents and production chains.
